Widows
The plight of widows is heartbreaking. Many women are kicked out of their homes and shunned by society after their husbands die. They are often thrown out of family homes because they are believed to bring bad luck after husbands’ death. Widows are often considered to be cursed, meaning they are thrown out by their families for fear of spreading their bad luck. This is the superstition among the families. While we are working with rural women we found a number of women who had lost their husbands due to various reasons. However MTRDS took it as challenge going ahead to support them. Motivating them to be a member of Self help groups and the other women are too treating them as a normal woman. MTRDS is supporting them in the areas of education of their children and establishing income generation activities and those who do not have individual toilets, they have been supported.
In this way MTRDS is supporting psychologically, financially and socially and bring them into main stream. We identified 230 widows from our target area.

Family History: Chandrakala’s husband Lingaswamy died of Kidney failure 3 years back. They are landless and agricultural laborers. The parents are uneducated. The husband was working as a gardener in medical college of Kamineni. They were able to meet their basic needs. After her husband death the family income drastically decreased. It was difficult to meet the needs of the family. Chandrakala finds it very hard to educate the children. So she forcibly stopped her eldest daughter from the school and taking her to labor work along with her.
In this situation MTRDS motivated her to join in the SHG. She put a Monthly savings of Rs. 50/-pm in the group. Additionally she has been supported in the areas of children education and establishing income generation activity. The children are continuing their education.

Children: 1. G. Jhansi, 6 years and studying 2nd class in ZP School – Veliminedu
G.Vignesh, 4 years going to Kinder garden at Velimindu.
Family History: Prameela’s husband Janakiram died of Kidney failure 2 years back. They are poor and landless and agricultural laborers. Mrs. Prameela studied up to 8th class. 90% of the earnings were spent on his medical treatment. She finds it difficult to educate her two children.
In this situation MTRDS motivated her to join in the SHG. She put a Monthly savings of Rs. 60/-pm in the group. Additionally she has been supported in the areas of children education and establishing income generation activity. The children are continuing the education.
ORPHANS
MTRDS came across many orphan children who were literally neglected of help and education. These situations of children suffering with hunger, poverty and loneliness moved our hearts with compassion. With the inspiration of Mother Teresa, we have taken up this as change and we are sharing the love of God and filling the innocent lives with joy and happiness. We are supporting the orphan children especially the girls who are away from the higher education in the society. They have been supported in the areas of education, basic needs, medical care and others.
Padamatinti Laxmi, Padamatinti Nageshwari, Srimeghana, Policetti Bala Divya etc have been supported for education. The below photos are some of the beneficiaries of this program.
Case study on Girl child education “Educate a man, you educate one person, educate a woman, you educate a complete family.”
Lack of education denies the girl child, the knowledge and skills needed to advance their status. Education enables the child to realize her full potential, to think, question and judge independently; to be a wise decision-maker, develop civic sense and learn to respect, love his fellow human beings and to be a good citizen.
While working with rural women MTRDS found many girl children who were stopped their education due poor economic situation of the families, social norms and traditions etc. MTRDS is working to change this and has identified girl children from the self help groups (SHGs) these children are being provided an education by MTRDS. They are poor. The support has be provided for professional education courses like Teacher Training Course (TTC), Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM), B.sc Nursing, B.Ed, B.Tech, M.Tech, MBBS Etc……
